Bass Family Farms

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) dates back to the late 1970s and early 80s as a way  for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from the farmer.  Over the years, the CSA movement saw farmers partnering and sharing in land and labor and then sharing in the crops that were grown. What emerged from that is the modern CSA concept of the membership subscription arrangement. A farmer sets aside a portion of land specifically for  people who pay a membership fee to partake in the harvest over a period of time. Typically, a share consists of a box, bag or basket of seasonal produce distributed each week throughout the farming season. A share can also include other food products besides produce.

The benefits of Nature's Harvest CSA program is that not only do you get food that is herbicide and pesticide free, maybe more importantly, you embark on a relationship with your food. It's simple - good food is good for you and we at Nature's Harvest take our relationship with our land very seriously and put a lot of planning, labor and, frankly, love into what we do. Raising fresh produce free of chemicals is a very labor intensive process but worth every bead of sweat from our brow. Our produce doesn't last as long as chemically enhanced produce from the grocery store but what you get is produce that is real, fresh and picked at the height of its flavor and nutritional value.

Nature's Harvest is a true sharing, community experience - CSA members are always welcome to the farm. Walk the fields and paths, bring a picnic and sit by the pond or even help with weeding and harvesting. We love getting to know all of our CSA members and appreciate your partnership in building a better way to a tastier and healthier life.
