WebFeb 5, 2024 · Somebody added a remote spin in filter to the 235 in my recently acquired '60 Chevy. They just ran 3/8" fuel line from the fittings on the block to the filter and back to the block. I have read about people converting the bypass system to full flow, and that they usually use 3/8" line rather than the 1/4" like the bypass system. The 55 265 engines had an "optional" oil filter. What I'm getting at is, because there's NO oil filter, there should'nt be a bypass valve, and that makes it full flow/pressure oiling.

You have to modify the engine a bit to make it full-flow, I think you can find the details over in the 49-54 board at Chevytalk.org -. The 1959 Truck Owner's Manual says the engine has a 5 qt capacity and the Jobmaster (261) oil filter holds 2 qts. Most likely the capacity is approximately 5qt+2qt=7qt.
