Romantic Portovenere has a gorgeous position on the Gulf of Poets, and its castle and churches, as well as its mediaeval section are stunning. But the entire Golfo dei Poeti is stunningly beautiful, and surely Palmaria is worth a visit, and there's good hiking as well. WebContrary to what some others have said, we would recommend a COUNTER CLOCKWISE route because that will put the most challenging (meaning very steep) trail first.
